Nicktoons Artists on Display
Mar 11, 1998The artistic visions of the Nickelodeon animation artists will not only be a regular feature on-air, but also on the walls at the new Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, CA/US. Further exemplifying Nickelodeon's commitment to the artists who create Nicktoons, regular exhibits of personal artwork created by Nicktoons animators will grace the walls of the new multi-million dollar studio in a special animators gallery.
The premiere exhibit coincided with the studio's grand opening last week. The show, entitled Art By Us, features the personal art works of 40 Nicktoons employees in a wide variety of art styles, including mixed media, photography, collage, drawings, sculpture, origami and water color. New exhibits will be featured every three months, and will highlight various themes or groups. Upcoming shows include an April Fools themed exhibit, and a display featuring the personal work of the Nickelodeon Animation Studios background artists.
The studio, which is part of a $350 million commitment to original animation by Nickelodeon, a unit of Viacom Inc.'s MTV Networks, is the new production home of current Nickelodeon series Hey Arnold! and Angry Beavers, and two new series for 1998: Oh Yeah! Cartoons! and CatDog. Mark Taylor is vice president and general manager of Nickelodeon Animation Studio.
