I checked out the background levels on the sector we had jacked into. No line noise - it was clean! And incredibly broadband, with no traffic. This was a legal jam, and we were the only ones on the channel. I had to laugh - I'd never played in a legal sector before.
No line noise!
The color structure danced across the screen. |
The drummer kicked in a pretty swift beat, the keys came in with a smooth tune, and we began the jam. The color structure danced across the screen, and my lyrics rolled down the side, surprisingly clear considering the fuzzy three-space. We locked into the structure very quickly, and jammed all night long. It was exhausting, exhiliarating, dream-like, all shrouded in that dark haze of the three-space. And when it was over, Benny said I'd be getting a check, and I pulled the plug on it and jacked into the day job, kinda strung out since I hadn't slept at all.
